About Me

My photo
I am a family, portrait, wedding and lifestyle photographer. The process of making people comfortable with the camera is just as much of a passion for me as is capturing the moment. It is important to me to make the photo session experience a memorable one as well. I know it's a generic statement but I am passionate about life and the urgency to document the moments as they unfold. Take time to invest in the days of your lives. Call me--I can help! I've created a "book of days" gallery on my website: www.mbgpics.com where I do that for my own life. Hopefully it showcases who I am as a person as well as as a photographer.

double trouble...

this family was blessed with two bundles of joy. i had the pleasure of photographing them a few months ago and then again this past week. WOW have they changed! since my children are 3 and 5 i seemed to have forgotten how quickly the babies change and grow. (another sign that i am getting old eh?)

i just loved the little tot lot by their home so i dragged them in the chilly weather over for some grassy early spring shots. i loved the way laying on the grass made them feel more relaxed and free--and the images don't hide that.

i love watching the pure love in new parents' eyes...the hope... the dreams... and the excitement of what is to come.

enjoy the ride-it passes by so quickly (despite the sleepy nights!)

"merrily merrily merrily....life is but a dream."

studio time...

i had the pleasure of attending an Illuminate Photography (http://www.illuminateworkshops.com/about/about.html) worshop over the past few weeks. yesterday, the last class in the session, was absolutely amazing. we worked with a burlesque model both in the studio and outside within our instructor's property in the pristine mountains of colorado.

we learned. and learned. and played. and learned some more. and laughed. and laughed. it was magical.

vivienne, our model, was stunning and experienced and personable and patient. and did i mention beautiful?

richard peterson, our host and instructor invited us into his personal space--his home, land, and studio and shared some wonderful knowledge with us. his work reeks of creativity, passion and purpose. and his kindness is apparent in his beautiful an sweet eyes.

efrain, the owner of the school and creator of the class, was beyond patient in sharing basic and complex knowledge with us (as well as popeye's chicken, beans and rice and mashed potatoes). he is the most compassionate and effective photography instructor i have ever had. oh--and he has beautiful and kind eyes too!

i just love the images and the memories of our time together.

next post will have pics of my instructors and classmate/new friend onay!

the significance of everyday life...

i know my passion and i feel my calling: to document everyday life and remind people of its magnificent significance.

i mean--so many people are so willing to pay thousands of dollars to capture one day--like a wedding-- but why don't people see that everyday moments are much more precious? the first time your child walks, sitting around cuddling with your children, your dog or your significant other, a hike in the beautiful mountain sun. these are often precious moments that go by unnoticed. walking through the park holding hands while the wind gently blows your hair to the side, a hour full of giggles during a rountine bubble bath. a ray of sun touching your cheek while you and your family enjoy a picnic in the park. these are the days and the times to remember.

i want to be the photographer people think of when they want to relive everyday moments. i want people to look back at the images and remember a place and time in their lives--not matching outfits and fake smiles.

last night i had a blast with my son just watching him enjoy his bubble bath. i grabbed my 60 mm macro ( i affectionately refer to it as 60 mac) and my new sb 900 and got wonderful images to remember our evening ritual. perfect.
